Quickly Switch to Silent Mode in Android

Don’t risk looking like a dope when your Droid starts ringing, buzzing, or otherwise audibly alerting you in the middle of a big meeting or event. Quickly put in Silent Mode.

Press and hold the power button on top of the Droid.

The Phone options will pop up. Simply tap on Silent Mode to turn off all sound.

You should then notice the icon at the top of the screen indicating your Droid is in Silent Mode.

You turn off Silent Mode (Turn the sound back on)  the same way. Press and hold the power button at the top of the Droid, and tap Silent Mode on the Phone options pop up window.

Easy enough. This also works well as a way to silence the camera shutter when you want to take pictures.
