Adding Hulu Plugin to Windows 7 Media Center
The new Windows Media Center in Windows 7 presents some great new features, but lacks any built-in integration with Hulu, the king of Internet streaming TV. (At least in the United States)
Hulu Labs has developed and released Hulu Desktop, a slick desktop application designed to work with standard Windows Media Center Remotes. Another application, Hulu Desktop Integration 1.0 adds Hulu Desktop to your Windows 7 Media Center interface for easy access.
Although it does not work with extenders, if you are looking for a way to control Windows 7 Media Center and Hulu from your couch with a Windows Media Center remote, this may be your perfect solution.
It may be a matter of semantics, or perhaps just irrelevant to most, but if we’re being completely accurate it isn’t technically a plug-in. When the Hulu Desktop is initialized through Windows Media Center by either clicking or by remote control, it actually shuts down Media Center and opens Hulu Desktop. When you close out of Hulu Desktop it automatically and immediately restarts Windows 7 Media Center. It’s not 100% seemless. The desktop will flash for a second or two as Windows Media Center is shutting down and Hulu Desktop is opening. Personally, I just like that it give me the results I desire. It goes back and forth from WMC and Hulu by using the remote.
Setup is rather simple. You’ll want to completely close out of Windows Media Center before beginning.
First, download and install Hulu Desktop. Installation is pretty straightforward.
Next, download and install Hulu Desktop Integration application. Also a basic install.
Now open you Windows Media Center and you should see a Hulu section on the main interface. Hulu Desktop should also appear under the Extras Library.

Notes:
Hulu Desktop is designed to work with Windows Media Center remotes. Other remotes may not work properly or at all.
Hulu Desktop Integration does not work with extenders.
Hulu Desktop Integration 1.0 is designed for Windows 7. It has not been tested or designed for Vista. Although some users have reported varying degrees of success with Vista, it seems most have not gotten it to work.
Currently, Hulu is only available in the United States.
