Google House Hub Launch Reside Stream, Launch Date, Worth & Spec Rumours

Later today Google will unveil its rival to the Echo Show with its first smart display. Here's what we know about the Google Home Hub release date, price and specifications, plus a live stream of the launch event.

Smart displays with voice assistants built in are a relatively new product category. Amazon has recently announced its second-gen Echo Show, which goes on sale later this week, while Google announced partnerships with several hardware makers earlier this year for smart speakers that build in Google Assistant.

But right now Google does not have its own smart speaker with Google Assistant built in. That should be about to change as it unveils the 7in Google Home Hub tablet/speaker during its 'Made by Google' hardware event later today. We've posted the live stream at the top of this page – it kicks off at 4pm BST so be sure to come back for full details on the new device.

When is Google Home Hub coming out?

Google revealed the concept of a smart display with integrated Google Assistant back in January at CES 2018, and devices from Lenovo, LG, JBL and Sony have all been confirmed. Google's own version, designed to set the standard, will arrive before Christmas, according to Nikkei Asian Review.

That means we will almost certainly hear more during Google's annual hardware event, which takes place on 9 October at 4pm BST.

How much will Google Home Hub cost?

We would expect a price roughly in line with the original Echo Show, which costs £199.99. The second-generation with larger screen has seen a price rise to £219.99, so we doubt Google would want to go any higher than this – especially if the company hopes to ship 3 million units before Christmas as sources suggest.

Google Home Hub specification rumours

Google's own smart display is expected to feature a 7in touchscreen and a relatively large speaker. MySmartPrice has discovered a series of screenshots and renders that give away more information about the device, including its specifications.
